Opinion on this '69 PSA 8 Brock.

Would you want better L/R centering for $600 or is this about as good as it gets?

1969 Lou Brock.

Jeff needs to change that background color. I think I'm going blind!

Last one on ebay sold for around $450 and I think was better centered. Sorry, this is one ugly looking 8, especially for $600.

No offense to seller; just my opinion.

I tried to look at that auction, but it really hurts your eyes...Vargha's right!

    Tough looking 8, though.

Having just submitted one to PSA this week that looks exactly like this one, all I can say is the card is oversized. As with mine the right side boarder IS normal but the left side boarder is just bigger. The card was almost a 1/16th bigger when I sized up the card with about 10 others. The top to bottom is fine its just slightly bigger on the left boarder which gives the card an OC look. I hope my Brock gets an 8, although its razor sharp with 9 corners.

I thought PSA only graded '69 Topps cards with 4 corners! image

I think Jeff is fishing on this one. He states in the auction he'll put it back in his collection if it doesn't sell. No doubt taking advantage of the $0.10 listing special. I did the same on a '70 Bench PSA 9. You never know when you'll catch a whale!
  • JOhn is right I am just fishing I did very well with this technique selling my 34 Goudey CArds Recently at a nice premium to book. I am working on the set (yet I am only 30% done ) so I figured I would see if anyone would over pay to own it..... I also think the color and focus on this card is superb the corners are sharp and with a little better centering it would be a 9. Here is an image of the card....

There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"
  • Let's just say all but 4 went home to their original owner...

My Brock's a 7 but the centering is very much like Jeff's card. I picked it up for $40 so the price was right. No way would I ever pay $600 (or even $200) to upgrade to an 8. No offense Jeff, I'm just building on the cheap. Now the Yaz, FRobby, Shannon cards are tops on my want list .

    Topps Heritage

    1957 Topps BB Ex+-NM
    All Yaz Items 7+
    Various Red Sox
    Did I leave anything out?
  • Dave,

No offense taken ... I frequently build my sets on the cheap .... and I love mid grade sets as long as the card has better eye appeal than the grade... Jeff
