I think I'm going to go for it! I don't have any of Goetz' notgeld and this is a primo example. Wish me luck!

I will pass on this one image but yes, I think that one is definitely on the watch list. Yet another twist to the coin per country, now I'm looking at Notgeld too! Where will the madness end?

I'm sure glad that auction link described what the reverse design portrays, or otherwise I'd have had no clue. Looks like a piece of driftwood!

Cathy is that a coin sea-saw or coin catapult in your sig?

Strange design and rather weak in detail. It leaves a lot open to interpretation.

I'm with LM on this one.
The most money I made are on coins I haven't sold.

    Got quoins?

It's a device that can asses for the correct weight (via the balance part), diameter and thickness of a sovereign and half sovereign for counterfeit detection. I guess this would be an old fashioned Fisch instrument! I find it somewhat less destructive than scratching or biting the coins image. Naturally I found it on ebay. I understand that Marsh's book "The Gold Sovereign" comments on it, though I have yet to pick up a copy of the book. In fact, I think I was running a search for the book when this turned up. Maybe time to run that search again--thanks for the reminder!

Thanks! I added to my watch list...I can't load any pictures right now...kind of weird really, not on the forums (even the avatars), ebay, adobe or anything...I need to go reboot I think.

edited to add: Ah, that's better! Rebooting is a good thing.
