OT - The Pony Express was a whole bunch faster

Just received a Yahoo auction win that traveled 2,065 miles in only 34 days!image
That's an average of 65 miles per day.image

144 years ago the Pony Express carried mail just under 2,000 miles in 10 days (200 miles per day-summerimage ) and 12-16 days (125-167 miles per day-winter!image).

Of course, there's always good news mixed in with the bad. image In 1860 a working man had to put in 5 days labor to send one ounce by pony express, but in 2004 the snail mail folks only charge about 5 minutes of a burger-flipper's pay. Yay progressimage
