There is an article on ESPN.COM today discussing this very same card.

I wonder how much the Lebron/Jordan is worth.

$50,000, as Keith Jackson would say "Whooooaaaaaaa, Nellie"

Do ya ever think the winner will ever make a profit on the card??? Or maybe, just my speculation, the card is so high profile that high bidder is a pro athlete or a celebrity to whom $50,000 is a couple of day's interest from their portfolio......Don't know why I just thought of that but figured I would share my thought since it popped into my head.

I will be bidding, IF I win Mega Millions tonight!!! LOL
    Collecting Interests:
Ripken, Brooks & Frank Robinson, Old Orioles, Sweet Spot Autos, older Redskins - Riggins, Sonny, Baugh etc and anything that catches my eye. image

Ok, normally I'm a big modern guy and I would defend this card. But 51 grand???? That is ridiculous. It's not even auto'd!!!! Plus, there are 2 more with Bron on them besides. Ugh. Utterly mind-boggling.

Oh well. Pistons look good! image

The phrase " I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole" comes to mind first. Maybe if all those news services cover this one and it turns out to be a fraud, then e-bay will rethink private auctions. Will not happen but one can always hope.

Please be kind to me. Even though I'm now a former postal employee, I'm still capable of snapping at any time.
  • That layout looks familiar? knew it. Seller's name used to be $armo$. I don't know if seller shills but his auctions go for unbelievable $$.
    RIP Snow
  • That is one ugly card. Guess that doesn't count for much, but it should. Totally insane.
Building sets: 1888 N18 Parasol Drill, 1888 N19 Pirates of the Spanish Main, 1911 T68 Heroes/Men of History (PSA 4+), 1952 Bowman Baseball (PSA 6+), Pre-war British soccer sets
  • I guess I'm old school.

This is a fabricated collectible. In the sense that it was pre-meditated to be a collectable and pre-meditated to be one of a kind already knowing the popularity of the players. I just cannot get all excited about it. To me it's just a couple swabs of cloth like the ones you get when you are deciding on furniture fabric. They cut up a good jersey. Normally if you damage a collectible it goes down in value. Now why aren't people whittling away at Federal chairs to sell toothpick size remnants of a collectible?

What a sucker who buys this card if the following comes true in the next year or two: Kobe found Guilty; LeBron rolls Hummer down an embankment and becomes parapellegic. Or I'll be nicer and just say maybe LeBron pulls a "Lakers".

    Two thumbs down.

    I'd take Griffey Jr's 500th HR ball. That's a true 1 of 1.

Fabricated collectible is a great way to put it. That aside, it might be a nice card to have for a hundred bucks or so...this type of price point makes no sense. I am sure that the buyer will never recoup anywhere near the purchase price for this card.....ever.

I will pay one crisp $50 bill to anyone who can tell me where the 1/1 MJ/Lebron can be found.

    Thank you.

That's weird. This morning it was at 111 bids, now there are 107. Even though the bidders have to be pre-approved, he had to cancel some, or else the bidders themselves cancelled. Still at the same price, though.

I think if i was going to invest (or in this case blow) that much money on any card it would be a '52 Topps Mantle PSA 9. At least with that card you know the value of it isn't going to be $0.50 in a year is LJ hurts himself, or becomes a coke head

Someone has some money to waste. The things I could do with $60,000+ !!! I can't imagine that it is even a normal collector of basketball cards buying this piece because no collector can be that insane! Or can they??? Go out and buy a full game worn jersey from both Kobe and LeBron! If I only had that kind of money to blow.......it wouldn't be that piece of garbage!
