<< <i>I am pretty upset with myself for falling for this scamimage. I hate to do this but I don't see myself ever sending coins to forum members again accept for the few I trust completely. image mike >>

Mike, I think that would be unfortunate. There were those of us who told people what a sleazeball this guy was when he first showed up here. I'm very sorry that you and a couple of others got taken by him, but I did try to put the word out when he showed up.

I've traded with dozens of other forum members since I have been here in nearly three years, and have never had a problem. But I wouldn't trust a few with a dateless Buffalo nickel, and he is one of them.
  • Hey don't be mad at yourself - be mad at the rip off artist - What's the status - any news? I will offer to email him if you want - just PM me the details to see if he has one of "your coins" for sale in conjunction with one of his auctions. I think most of the ppl on this forum are honest. I know you are down right now - but GET UP and Get your coins back - Take action! If you are just giving it time, I think time is UP!

Mike- is there any way that we in the forum can help? What would you like from us right now??

I really think this will all come out OK eventually, but that doesn't excuse the guy for causing you all that aggravation.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

    Afraid of the answer?

    Huh?

DCAM, you should know that I have no part in this. Well, aside from thinking that Mike's a good guy and wishing that all ends well on his end. As for Pepperdoodles, I have no idea who he is except from what I read around here.

Odd that anyone would think I'd be afraid of knowing the identity of the bad person in question...

I was given the same "nephew in charge" line from an ebay member.
He was weeks late in mailing back a return check. After 4 weeks I posted here and Tonelover helped me out. I hope Pepperdoodles isn't out of New Hampshire with the same "useless" nephew.

Sure you did K6AZ. This thread dealing with him has 186 posts and not one of them is from you. Plenty from the most volumnous member defending him though.....

    Hey Mike,

If this guy has slammed people before, I wouldn't hesitate to contact the proper authorities. These are YOUR coins. You have a right to know where they are and get them back. If you are being kept from what is yours, it is a felony if it is over 2,000 dollars. Even if he is in the hospital, they will confirm that and do their best to make things right for you. If he isn't in the hospital and this is a scam, the proper authorities will get him with your help and take this jerk off the streets.

I feel if his business is being run by his employee's or himself I am owed at least a response of some kind- without responding I believe no excuse is good enough. I have not named the guilty forum member as of yet but I am getting close to doing so unless I hear from him or his employee's soon. mike

If you used the postal service and you still have the documentation to prove it consider mail fraud action. Nothin like the mention of getting the Feds involved to stir up a little action. Be sure that if you threaten/mention mail fraud and he spaces it off back up your words with ACTION!!

Yes, I am sure to have the postal reciepts- I only throw them out once a year. I am still hoping he will take care of this by getting wind of this thread and I will not have to go any further but my step is getting very close. Also I wanted to thank everyone for their support on this matter as it means alotimage. mike

You have a postal reciept but that dosen't prove what was sent.
This person could say that you sent them one coin and send you back one coin.
Can you prove what coins you sent?

I got a package in the mail and was very surprised to see all but one of my coins returned! The other was supposed to be sent to PCGS and as I got no message in the package or by email or PM I will have to assume it was sent to PCGS as was discussed earlier with the nephew. I guess this thread worked just the way I had hoped and their was no need to name the forum member. By the way the package was dated June 17- two days after this thread was started. mike image

Amazing how that works. It also is the day I posted the link to report mail fraud. He's had mail fraud charged against him in the past, and he knows it is no joke. That online form is a powerful tool to get transaction partners to make good on a deal, I have used it several times and each time the other party made good.
  • Awesome. Glad it has worked out for you mostly. Let us know when you get your other coin back.
I'm still wondering if you should let the board know who this person is. I for one would appreciate it just so I would know never to deal with this person and never to bid on any of his auctions. He put you through the ringer!

    Eric,

I used that Mail Fraud Complaint form on the seller of that MS70FS 1968-D Jefferson I bought on eBay. Did so probably close to 2 months ago. How long does USPS usually take to investigate these filings as I haven't heard word one from either them or the IFCC where I also filed a complaint?
