This Years Super Bowl

xbaggypantsxbaggypants Posts: 2,185 ✭✭✭
If you were to put $100 on a team to win this years Super Bowl who would it be and why? The reason I ask is that I'm headed to Vegas in a couple of weeks and would like to make the season a little bit more exciting.

Thanks,
Ryan

    Eagles...watch out for them.....

Everyone is picking the Eagles, that's why they're 7/2 odds, which isn't a very good bet, IMO. Too much risk to justify a small profit.

As for a dark horse, I think the Bills at 25/1 or the Seahawks at 15/1 are worth thinking about.

    Those are terrible odds.

    Here are much better odds:

With that said, it depends on how much you want to win. $100 on a 20-1 or so dark-horse is a nice payday but also a long-shot. I have dabbled a bit, and would recommend picking teams to win their division. Last NFL season I cleaned up by picking division winners.

Last long shot I took was $10 on the 25-1 Lightning to win the cup image

If you were going to bet $100 on a winner, I'd break it up into 3-4 bets on longer teams who have a lot of unknown variables. Teams like Cleveland, Cincinnati, Detroit... Lots of new players and changes there. I wouldn't bet a team less than 10-1 this early. Far too much risk for little potential reward.

Last 5 years it seems its been a team to come out of nowhere!!

    Im a diehard cowboys fan!!

But if was had 100 to toss away i would give the bungals a shot! maybe the team to surprize shock the world this year.

also another thought 1 threw 50$ on the arizona cardinals to win the division i got it at 16-1 so 800 payout. that is going to be a weak division and i like what they have this year offensivly!

You need to pick a team that was good last year, but getting better. The Patriots will not make it this year. Go for a team like the Jets or the Steelers. Both teams will be better than last year and have good coaching staffs. Another possibility could be the Colts.

I would bet on the Jets at 30-1, Broncos, and Vikings.

Now, how can the Raiders be 20-1 odds?

If this were a stock market, I'd short the daylights out of TB at 12-1 image.

edited to add: If you really wanna have fun, then just throw $5 on Arizona at 125-1 ... that offense could surprise some, especially in their weak division - crazier things have happened! Jax at 40-1 also seems intriguing ...

    New York Jets 30-1

I love the Jets, and they are a team waiting for a break out season. This might be their year, if Pennington can stay healthy.

I also agree on you breaking up your bet.

    GO DUKE!

The Pack is a sound bet, even at 12-1 odds that is worth a shot. The best team in their division. Favre can still toss the ball with their running game being at the top of the league.

I kinda like Denver, especially at the 17-1 at which cornholio's list has them.

In the past 3 years, the only consistent team in the NFC has been the Eagles. Unfortunately I witnessed two of the last three NFC Championship games image

This year is different (I know, I know ...)

Oh, the easy money of course is on the Birds image

With TB, I meant that I wish I could bet the *other* way - i.e., that 12-1 are waaaaaaay too optimistic odds for the Bucs. They're more like 30-1 I think ... and dropping with each suspension and contract holdout image.

And, honestly, I do think we could see McNabb vs. Leftwich in the SB this year ...

Best of luck with whatever you choose. I think other good ones would be Tennessee, Atlanta, and Minnesota. Both Atlanta and Minnesota are 25-1 are picked to win their division by many experts.

Eagles fan wish they were Bucs fan! McNad is washed up and you STILL have NO offense! Sure you play
in a weak division, but come put up or shut up time, you all have nothing! Time to get embarrased at
home again! Man and I thought the Vikes were pathetic!

The Bucs will destroy everyone again! There will be no injuries this year. Gibbs is up first! Watch out!

    GO BUCS

Check out the Imperial Sports Palace (the sports bar is small) - they have the best odds for things like the SuperBowl and Stanley Cup.

I know I'm late, and strictly a Pats fan for the last 30 or so years.

For betting purposes though.......I like Tennessee. They gave the Pats a run, and looked solid against them last year with an injured QB. Different game if that guy is healthy.

I can't believe nobody thinks the Panthers will make it back to the big dance. I am a Colt's fan myself, coming from Indianapolis originally. Now that I live in Vegas, I don't get to see them as much. That said, I like these two teams. image

I agree with aro13. In my experience, sports books with the best odds are usually from smaller casinos or those off the strip.

This year's Super Bowl? I have it on good authority that the Patriots take it.

As for the Super Bowl to take place in January 2005... dunno. image

The Eagles cannot possibly lose the NFC this year. They aren't just going to beat teams, they are going to destroy teams. They are hungry, motivated and have by far the best overall talent of any team in the NFC. Hopefully they can win the Super Bowl against a sure to be tough AFC team.

I wouldn't count the Cowboys out this year. They just need the Offense to help out that #1 defense and the could over take the Eagles this year! In Bill we Trust!
    Go Cowboys!!!!!!!!!! image
