GOETZ: Opus 43 Dr. Paul Ehrlich

K-43 DR. PAUL EHRLICH, 1910, Struck AE, 60.4mm, 98.60g. UNC

German Bacteriologist at the age of 56. Inscription on the obverse (from Latin) “Paul Ehrlich at the age of 56 in 1910” with bust facing right. Reverse has nude with snake and the inscription (from Latin), “The bodies do not go, unless they are made to go.”

Assisted by Japanese Dr. Sahachiro Hata, created Salvorsan as the first specific against syphilis. He was also a Nobel Prize winner in 1908.

This is only my second struck medal in the collection as I prefer the more rugged cast pieces but it is still nice nonetheless.
