K-267 ABDICATION OF KING LUDWIG III OF BAVARIA (König Ludwigs Abdankung). 1918, Cast AE, 59mm, 82.60g, UNC, Edge Incuse KGoetz.

Obverse has the uniformed Monarch signing decree. Inscription on the reverse, “ All my life I worked with and for the people. The welfare of my beloved Bavaria has always been my highest ambition. Ludwig III. November 13, 1918.”

Unfortunately I've only a couple more to do before I return to my reimaging of earlier stuff. I do have to image both sides of all my foundry casts too so maybe you'll be seeing those. I had hoped that a large medal I've been waiting for would show up today from Germany but nada....oh well, I still have plenty to keep me busy.

I've got about six or seven patterns that I'll have to photograph but it won't be today.

This medal captures a poignant moment for Goetz. He was a fervant Bavarian and royalist, so it must have been painful to see the forced abdications of Bavarian royalty.
