The comments mention several tough "S" mints also in 65RD. This set is going to be something when the rest of the coins get listed.
Man, I just can't keep up. In fact, I can't even tread water. I've been dropping like a rock over the last few months.
I'm starting to think that Gerry and others are right in their prediction that this is just going to continue to escalate as we approach 2009. If that's right, it will be down right crazy!
Well, we were just debating about how many more "top 5" sets there could be and were thinking one or two at the most. Here's one more! So all 8 65rd 20-s's whereabouts are now know. Still 15-19 65rd's of 16-s thorugh 19-s,21-s,23-s,27-s, so still a decent number of these very tough coins not listed in the registry (or in closed sets I guess). Wonder if there could be more great unregistered sets than what we were thinking?
I too must admit,I'm impressed but not surprised. The high grade RED cents will become scarcer yet,IMHO.There are many "Lincoln Collectors" out there. As 2009 approaches you will see demand exceed supply and prices sore through the roof. Some want to #1,while others just want to complete a set in as good a grade as $'s will allow.I have met both Stewart and Gerry. While I believe theirs will never be topped, there will be some very close ones.I think there will be 100ths of points between the top (5) sets. This new one is definitely on his way.
Most would agree that it is technically impossible to top Stewart and Gerry. As these new sets get posted, it will soon be impossible to even get into the top 5 (who knows, maybe even top 10!!).
Never say never. Slow, creeping grade inflation ensures that there will always be a few upgrades available. If the top sets decide not to protect themselves from the sharks, they will eventually be passed by....
And another new one to watch (in the varieties set)...RHB I keep forgetting to ever check the with varieties listing. Too bad they don't list them in the basic listing too. That Kevin Michaels set looks to be about exactly what I want for my set! (except I don't care about varieties at all!).
As time goes by there will be increasing prestige to being "only" #50 or #150. This should serve to bring even more great unregistered collections out. The registry is more and more becoming a source of information in itself.

Now #25, with 68.48 GPA! This one's going top 5, and quickly.
