Make your prediction now.

What player will be next year's NBA Rookie of the Year, and what team will he be playing for at the end of the season? [Note that I am not asking who will draft him.]
Giving your reasons would be appreciated.
I'll post my answer after a while.

My prediction is Josh Childress, of the Charlotte Bobcats (I think they'll use the #4 pick on him).
On an expansion team, he will get the chance to play a lot right away. He is NBA-ready (3 seasons at Stanford, culminating in being named Pac-10 player of the year). His style of game is like Adrian Dantley's, but with better defense. He's easily recognizable (only Ben Wallace has a comparable Afro among well-known current players) but comes across as a good guy rather than a thug or bad boy.
For his rookie season, I project him to 18 to 20 points, 5 rebounds, 3 to 4 assists, and 1.5 steals a game.
