solid-case coin displays - Last call for 20% early bird savings! (update)

Hi all,

We have come up with an addition to our line of showcases - the Desktop Presentation
model (shown below), with sizes available to hold from one to seven coins. For $10 over
the cost of the standard desktop showcase, this model includes a 3/4" thick pedestal base
and a custom inscribed plate with the text and/or logo of your choice.

Things are coming together here. Last week we received the proofs for the injection molded
two-piece "shells" that sandwich the slabbed coin. The engineer at the plastics company was
very helpful and made some suggestions during their mold-making process that has resulted
in an even nicer part than we had originally designed. The proofs look and fit great, and now
they are adding some texture to the molds and will make our production run.

We are on schedule to ship the first units out around the end of July.

This is the last call for those who want to take advantage of our pre-production special of 20%
off the normal pricing - don't delay, act today! image

Thanks,

Ken

Update 6/25/2004 - Approved the final proofs on the coin shells with texturing today. They
look awesome! We will take delivery of all of custom hardware components (coin shells,
machined aluminum/black anodized panel frames, black oxide security bolts, etc, etc, etc)
over the next few weeks and will begin production of orders.

I'm getting excited as it has been a long road and these are going to look really, really good
when all these components finally come together. The photos on the web-site are accurate
prototypes (good enough for photographs), but the production product will possess the quality,
fit and function that you can only truly appreciate by holding one in your own two hands - the
kind of thing that when you see one, you'll want one! image

I have a coin I would like to put in a desktop showcase like that, but it's raw, and a hammered gold coin, meaning it's not perfectly round. Would I have to have it slabbed first (not something I really wanna do), or is there some other way to put it in one of your showcase thingies? Put it in an Airtite first, perhaps?

  • I am in the process of pricing a showcase for a forum member who has a
very beautiful and rather large medal. As you know, the orientation of the
obverse and reverse of most (all?) medals are opposite from US coins, in that
if you flip a medal in our showcases the reverse would display upside down.

The plastic shells that fit within the aluminum frame are designed specifically
to hold PCGS or NGC slabs. For this medal are desigining (and will have available)
a similar showcase as above, except that it will rotate on a vertical axis so that
both sides of the medal will be face up when you spin it around. We are getting
quotes from a plastic fabricator on a two-piece "shell" that will sandwich a
medal, coin, or whatever and retain it in a machined center "cup", if that makes
sense. It should make for a striking display! image

What orientation is the obverse/reverse on your hammered coin? It would
probably need to be placed in an airtite or similar holder first, but then we can
    take it from there.

    We aim to please!

It's a gold toman from Persia (Iran), and as I mentioned, it's a little irregular in shape, being a hammered coin. (Which makes me wonder about an Airtite, too). I don't remember what the die alignment is on it, though since there is no real design except fancy Arabic calligraphy, I guess that doesn't matter much.
