$50,000!image Is that the sucker bid that's retracted later or the reserve?? Who follows ANR sales closely enough to know??

50K seems reasonable to me. Anybody have auction records for this one? I know the one in the 1991 ANA did not sell.

    PEOPLE!

This is a SOLID GOLD Indian Cent that has NEVER come to auction! It's the ultimate in COOOOL if you're an IHC collector.

While I personally can't imagine spending $50,000 on ANY coin, if I had money to burn (and there are collectors who do) and I collected IHC, I'd be all over this auction.

Shamika is dead-on. What else is so cool that could you buy for the same amount of money? Hint: don't mention any coin there is more than 6 of.

Gold error, off planchet, 50k would be a steal. An NGC MS62 1980d cent off metal on a silver dime planchet (must have been a clandistine striking) brought 30k, this should bring at least 75k since it's only AU.

Maybe this one has never been for sale, but a choice unc 1900 Indian cent on a quarter eagle planchet sold at the Beck sale in about 1975. I owned that one in the late eighties. It would probably grade 64 today, maybe 65.

Really? I'm stunned. Do they know where the planchet came from?

If that's what a 1981 coin on a silver planchet t goes for, then this IHC is well worth 50k IMHO.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Heritage 7/1993:8000, a 1900 IHC in gold, AU55, went at $29150. Laura says $50k 5 years ago. I'm thinking this coin is worth about 100K.

I would think that is the opening bid. Does seem like a cool coin for the person that can afford it.

For real, do they have sucker bids sometimes? I noticed a 14-d Lincoln in the last Superior auction had an opening bid of $6500 and now is listed with a price realized of $5750.
