Need help on medieval English coin

Someone brought this into my shop today. Since everything I know about English medieval coins is.........OK, about that much, can anyone give me an idea of whether this might be genuine, and if so, what it might be worth? Thank you image

The coin is silver, not gold.

  • I am not the expert here either, but is the coin gold in color? Is it gold? The S-1526 number refers to Spink which marks it as a Edward III penny which would be silver.

From what I can see of the design in your pictures it doesn't look like a Edward III penny (S-1526). Hopefully someone esle will be more enlightening than I.....image

If it is S-1526 then it is valued at £300 in Fine according to Spinks.

  • Definitely looks like a genuine Edward III penny to me, so the attribution on the slip of paper is probalby correct.
