Klingensmith to #5

From 68.02 to 68.05. Wish he'd open it up, with 100% complete it's not like anyone is going to hold him hostage for a particular coin. Gee, maybe I should close mine...

The pressure from beneath keeps mounting for Stewart and Tom......

What pressure? They are miles ahead! By the way, how about the MNO collection at 49th? Thats got to be a good one too. Every time I update my set (50th) he/she does too. And only when I update my set. I swear he/she waits to add coins until he/she sees me add one!

For those of us who are Lincoln fans, this set will be at auction in Pittsburgh.

    Jack,

If you lock yours up, I'm locking mine up.... image

Honestly, though, when you get close to 95-100% complete, that's when the fleasers come out. Until that point, you have so many left to get, when someone quotes you a rediculous price, you can laugh and get that other coin you were looking at. Once you get down to that select few, that "other coin" is a lot harder to come by.

Uh oh, Hobart collection upgraded a 39-d to ms67 and is now back in to a tie with Klingensmith! I love that set! Only 5 coins not ms65 (but I bet they're still great coins!)

If it is going to be auctioned, open it up and we can see what is for sale

Well with some "simple" upgrades (anything with a pop of 30 or higher), hobart can get the set to 68.17

So, the set gets listed one week and is up for sale already. Hhmmm.....

As I understand it, the person selling the set was instrumental in building the set. He convinced the owner to get it listed before breaking it up. My guess is that it gets opened up after all the upgrade attempts are complete and before the set gets listed in the Pittsburgh sale.

BTW, the set is not mine and I have no involvement in the sale.

That's the way to do it if you can. Get the tough ones first!

So, do you think that listing a collection on the registry prior to the sale of the collection will improve the prices realized?

I bet if your coins are nice and if you had nice accurate photos in your registry it would improve prices realized. Maybe an e-mail address so questions can be asked too. It gives the potential buyer more to go on than just the auction company image and description.
