No Purchase Neccesary Phenom

Hey all- Looking to talk to people who can give me some anecdotes about how the No Purchase Necessary has worked for them in collecting their hockey cards. I know of a few people who have gotten some of the best cards without ever buying a pack. If anyone can share something, please e-mail me at keithssw@aol.com

Thanks
Keith

  • I put in for 03 Topps Tribute World Series, and ended up with a Steve Garvey bat auto, which I was very happy with.

However, companies seem to have found a loophole for the 1 g/u or auto per pack products. They've found a way so they only have to offer the base card parallels, and not the big hit. So, it might actually be better to send in NPNs for products that don't have a money card in each pack.

there is a very good thread on www.sportscardforum.com as well. I think the beckett boards have one in each category as well. The one on scf is pretty good too, as it lists the requirements, addresses and exp dates for each too.

Great info. Many on this board have been sent some good cards from NPNs.

I just sent out all of the eligible Fleer, Donruss, and Topps offers from the NPN site.

I'm keeping a spreadsheet for $hits and grins to see what kind of results I get, turnaround time, etc.

  • I sent in 10 NPN requests for Fleer Ultra basketball about 4-5 months ago. As of today I have received 10 inserts and 4 jersey cards from the set. I'm still waiting for for other Fleer products for which I sent NPN's at the same time.

I have not tried any other companies.

I haven't gotten any "wow" cards from hockey, although I have gotten a number of jersey cards from Topps products. I haven't been submitting to Upper Deck. My hockey successes (as well as all my other successes ongoing) are posted on the long thread linked to from this thread.

As far as the sets where the chase cards are 1/pack, I have generally found that I get close to, if not the same number, of cards back as NPNs sent (and I have 5 addresses that I use, so the sample size is reasonable).
