I believe an artist can make a painting and use restricted licensed images and sell them, as long as he doesn't mass-produce them. Same goes if an artist is painting or drawing a country scene w/ a Coca Cola billboard or a road w/ a Chevrolet complete w/ logos....jay
I only took a moment to look at the photos, but from what I can see he doesn't use the actual team logo in his paintings. He shows from angles in which the helmet logo wouldn't show or just doesn't use it, therefore he's not infringing any copyright laws. He's simply painting pictures of people in green and yellow football uniforms (as an example).

Notice how the entire logo is never shown? I think copyright law says 80% or something like that... So if Favre was moved a little to the right: and the whole logo was shown, it would be in violation.
Course, I'm not a lawyer, just going by what I've been told.
I thought even if 100% of the logo was present that they can be sold when they are 1/1 artist creation. Only when they become mass produced does it infrige on trademarks.
Even when prints are made for re-production I believe that there's also not a problem.
Check out this excellent artist and his prints. I have a Vikings one...of course
Let me start off by saying that since I am a Vikings fan, I hate the Packers. That being said, that is still one cool a$$ helmet! I might even display one of those in my house.
However if it were one of their corners, Milli or Vanilli, I'd have to pass.
