Home PSA Set Registry Forum

New to the Registry Game.

I have been buying and sending off a few PSA cards for few years now. So I decided to read the boards a few months ago. After reading and seeing the enjoyment everyone has with the registry sets I decided to pick one for myself and jump into the fun and blow away my money. I picked the 1975 Topps Football set, so if anyone has some advice let me know. I have not registered my little set so far. I think I want to get all the money cards out of the way before I do so. I look forward to chatting it up and any help would be appreciated. Thanks all and glad to finally join in.

Thanks again on the spread sheet Jeb.

    Welcome, RedsMan....

You will enjoy the forum and the registry sets you begin.

Curious, if you are a Reds fan, why are you starting with a football set?

  • Mariners,

I want to do both the Football and Baseball Set for 1975. Just figured since its Baseball Season I would start with Football. I might be wrong in thinking that, but that is why. image

I am not an expert on the recent dealings with 1975 Topps baseball PSA graded cards, but I think I saw a thread on the '75's recently that indicated that prices are soft and it is a buyers market. This may be the perfect time to pick up some great 1975 baseball cards at good prices.

Anyone else have anything to add to that statement?....or am I all wet?image

Welcome aboard! Hope you can swim!

Seriously, I hope you learn as much from the twisted, maniacal minds on these boards as I have!

    RedsMan,

First off, welcome to the boards. I once had 40% of the 75 Football set in 9 or better (sold it on Ebay to Mickey's Sportscards). You didn't say what grade you wanted to collect the set in, but I would recommend doing the set in all 9's. I was picking up common 9's for anywhere between $8 and $11. There is no need to overpay as there is still plenty of raw out there. Choose a price you are willing to pay and stick to it. I wouldn't worry about getting the money cards first as they are always available. If you are patient, you can get these at a bargin. As an example, in the past year or so, I've seen the Theismann rookie go for anywhere from $160 to over $300.

    Good luck,
    Robert

    Welcome to the boards.

My heart skipped a beat thinking there was a new red man collector on the boards.

  • Red,

Take my advice and get out while you can. Before you have to sell your children to support your habit!!! image

    ....and welcome.

  • Thanks all.

Robert, Looks like Mickey is selling your set off right now one at a time. Looks a little high on some of the commons with a starting bid of $13 and they are not selling. I might be trying to pick your brain some on the set. Thanks again all,

Tom is right. Many strong men before you thought that they could handle the hard stuff, only to see their lives in utter ruin in pursuit of a .01 gain on their set GPA.
