What Is It? ... And How is It Graded?

foodudefoodude Posts: 3,553 ✭✭✭
David,

I recently looked at an original MS roll of '43 or '43-Ds Lincolns (maybe both had this feature), where several of the coins had the following the feature on the reverse in "exactly" the same place. The feature was a rather large "shiny" area in the field. The rest of the field looked normal (i.e., typical MS surfaces), and the devices also looked normal. What is it? What is the impact on the grade.

Thanks,
Greg

    Hi Greg,

This die polish. It generally means the coin is an early strike off the die. It is not a negative to the grade unless it looks ugly.

    Thanks,

    David
