Phoney money?

Just got "seriously" started with money collecting by buying a coin from the Roman period. However, there's a lot of phoney stuff going on these days and I'm no expert. So what do you think, is this a real one or a phoney? When I bought it, it cost me 3$...

I think that the man in the coin might be Constantine I, am I right?

  • Pretty definite that it's real. It's a roman bronze of the 4th Century, probably a Constans II issue of 337-50 A.D.

The common ones aren't usually counterfeited because they're inexpensive. Your best bet is to invest in some books on the period of Roman coinage in which you're interested.
