Can somebody tell me why the '00 Omega Joel Piniero RC went up to $150 last month???

He is currently 1-7 with a 5.79 ERA. I just don't get Beckett. Was he ever hot this year? He only has one win. Geez. I am just curious to know what sparked the jump?

7 MVP awards, the single season HR record, career walks record, single season walks record, 700HR/500SB, and two batting titles near 40 years old. How can one argue that those aren't stats of the greatest to ever play the game??? All this and there is still more to come!!!! Bonds:2005 NL MVP. Or are you going to doubt him again?

Dr. Beckett has a stockpile he's tired of sitting on? Actually, he's probably adjusted the price in reaction to ebay activity. I have no idea why, but the last 5 to sell on ebay went for $168.50, $164.50, $121.50, $127.50, and $100.01. They all sold to the same guy, so it could be an example of micro-market-cornering. His other RC, 2000 Fleer, is not doing anything. I wish something like that would happen with the "can't miss" 2000 Omega prospect card I have, Pedro Feliz.
    WANTED:
2005 Origins Old Judge Brown #/20 and Black 1/1s, 2000 Ultimate Victory Gold #/25
2004 UD Legends Bake McBride autos & parallels, and 1974 Topps #601 PSA 9
Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs

    Nothing on ebay
  • Thanks. But did these cards sell for those prices before or after Beckett raised them? Either way, it is ridiculous. If I pay $100 for the next 5 '89 Fleer Gregg Jefferies that are listed, will they shoot up also? 5 sales should not be the reason that one card takes off. Now that the guy is pitching terrible, will it be a $50 card next month? Doubt it.

Beckett will have the card sit idle for a few months, and then finally start dropping it in $20 increments if that by December. Beckett is so whacked. They will have a '87 Fleer Barry Bonds BGS 9.5 drop to $1,200 one month, and the next month it is up to $1,500. They are too far behind current prices. Once a month leaves them supplying us out of date values. Like others have said before, Ebay is the best daily price guide you will find. Just look what the cards are selling for and that is what you can expect to get.

By the way Helionaut, that Feliz '00 Omega card should be a $50 card in no time ( if it isn't already ). He looks like a 30+ HR guy now.

There are reports that some collector is stockpiling Piniero rookies the same way that Ron Davenport from the 2001 Bowman Autograph set is being hoarded.
    Who is Rober Maris?

Thanks Sean. I think it has scam written all over it though. Even if one guy wanted all of the Pineiro rookies from the Omega set, why does the bidding get so high. Why do they go off at $150 a pop. There must be a bunch of others involved. If the player sucks, the guy collecting them should have no problem getting these rookies for cheap. Why are there so many other bidders? How did anyone even figure out that this one guy was hoarding them up unless they were bidding themselves? There is 999 copies of this card, that isn't exactly "rare" anymore. I know it's one of his only rookies, but come on!

Some guy could go out and start hoarding all of the Rodrigo Lopez rookies, and would I know? No. How do so many people bid up this card and why? Maybe now that they are aware that some guy is buying them up, otyhers might join in, but that's still no reason for this card to be that high. Did it hit $200 in the latest Beckett?? Unbelievable!

Here I go again with the 2001 Titanium Football set. Each rookie is serial numbered out of just 75 copies. I own 4 of the 74 Steve Smith rookies so far. Steve Smith is better than Joel Pineiro. Will the Steve Smith's get raised to $500 a pop now?? Aren't people aware that I have about 5% of the total production? Where are all the bidders? I got my last one last week for only $40.

    I don't get it.

  • Some crazy dude told Beckett he would pay up to $200 cash for each and every 00 Omega Piniero that comes up for sale. So far he's kept his word. Supply and Demand, it's taught in middle school.
