What's with Goldberg?

According EBay, one of my bids in the Goldberg pre-Long Beach sale was successful. The item listing on EBay now says the high bidder was an internet bidder, without identification. A week has gone by, and I've received nothing about the item from Goldberg, including no response to a separate e-mail inquiry. Until I know the shipping charge and how they are computing sales tax, I can't pay them. Now what? image

I don't know specifically what's going on, but that seems to be consistent with what I always hear about "eBay Live" auctions. I've never heard a good thing from an internet bidder in those. Coordination of floor bidding and internet bidding seems to be VERY poor in those types of auctions. Hope it works out for you.

True. I also hope it works out but the feedback and timing of eBay Live against the rapidity of bidding on the actual floor quite often leaves the eBay bidder in a total fog as to what is really happening.

Folks, I really suggest contacting a dealer who may be in attendance to review your lots and place floor bids on your behalf. Most of these guys will do this for about 3% of your winning bid, and you are then assured of winning the lot if it falls at or below your max.....well, most of the time!! image

I've seen this eBay creature on both ends and I would never use it.....I don't even like leaving proxy bids to be executed on the floor. You usually lose.....and, more often than not the floor bidder will do a 'cut bid' when it's apparent that your top bid is in. In fact many times the auctioneer will announce to the floor, "this is my top bid!". If you and a lone floor bidder have traded blows from $160 to 200, with you at $200, most the time the floor guy will buy the lot for $205. image

    Sad, but true.

I participate in these auctions - just not through ebay. I prefer to go direct through the auction house's site and save 5 to 10% in fees. But for what it's worth - typically Goldberg takes a week or so to send you an invoice for your wins. I recently waited almost 2 1/2 weeks for an invoice from Superior. But it came eventually - in the reg mail.

Patience pal - if you won - you'll get the coin image
