Home PSA Set Registry Forum

Greetings from new member

I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I'm a new member who is currently working on a 1962 Topps Civil War News set. I've been switching my set over to PSA graded from SGC graded, and so far all of the cards I've submitted have crossed over with one going from a SGC 92 to a PSA 9. I'm real happy about that one. I'll list the cards and crossover results shortly when I have a bit more time. A special hello to Jay from Cavalcade of Sports. I believe I was his first customer when he opened his first baseball card shop in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. I'll also relay the story about the time we went to a show in New York city to obtain autographs of Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays.

BOTR is correct. I don't know if I'd be too quick to admit that in a public forum! image

But, I won't let it create any prejudice in my mind - Welcome to the boards!

Howdy Jake. Congrats on that 92 cross to 9. I had PSA take my $10 and politely decline to cross my SGC 96 to a 9. Your 92 must have been quite a strong example.

Hey, didn't Jesse Orosco and Julio Franco lose a season or two because of the Civil War?

JAKE - Hope you know what your gettin yourself into image
We go back a long way, I even took Jake to NYC in '88 for a card show that Mantle & Mays appeared at.
I remember Mantle getting mad at me when I politely requested he use a blue sharpie instead of a black one,
I also remeber Jake having Mays sign a baseball and then rolling it back to him possibly smudging the brand new sig,
I also remember buying a case of '87 Fleer wax and almost having a stroke carrying that and other items to my car
about 3 city blocks away. Its funny, I remember that show vividly, even being re-routed because of a Puerto Rican
Parade in Manhattan, but I have a rough time remembering what I did last week image ...jay
