Before we slaughter the fattened calf and have a feast and celebrate that our lost boys have finally come home, perhaps their PR Man, Ranch, can shed some light on what's going on here?

I saw that too...I love the 65 Santo!
  • i would assume that since they're in older slabs, it's just excess inventory.

i agree on the Santo, that card is sweet

Wheres the SGC cards? I just did a 30 day search, and only PSA cards came up. Are they back on board? ...jay

Wasn't it about 30 days ago that Forman took over SGC? Nah, just a coincidence.

Wow. That would be a hell of a lot of crow to swallow.

All of those cert numbers correlate to PSA's now-defunct 3-D experimental holder. If the slab is held at a slightly different angle, the card appears in a SGC holder. As it's rotated further, the card disappears and a Mr. Mint bobblehead is viewed in a GAI holder.

GRADE RUNNER adapted by Scumbi from the Ridley Scott film based on a Phillip K. Dick novel

    Mike enters Joe's office-

Mike: We need to talk grades.
Joe: Yes. Grades. Well, I'm afraid that's a little out of my jurisdiction, you...
Mike: I want higher grades, butthead.
Joe: The facts of life. To make an alteration in the PSA grading system is fatal. A grade sequence cannot be revised once it's been established.
    Mike: Why not?
Joe: Because by the second day of reslabbing, any print marks that have undergone reversion mutations give rise to revertant colonies like rats leaving a sinking ship. Then the ship sinks.
    Mike: What about GAI recombination.
Joe: We've already tried it. Ethyl methane sulfonate as an alkylating agent and potent mutagen. It created a virus so lethal the card was melted before it left the grading table.
Mike: Then a repressive protein that blocks the inaccurate grading.
Joe: Wouldn't obstruct re-examination, but it does give rise to an error in encasment so that the newly formed slab carries the mutation and you've got a virus again. But, uh, this... all of this is academic. Our grade decisions were made as well as we could make them.
Mike: But not to be corrected.
Joe: The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long. And you have burned so very very brightly, Mike. Look at you. You're the prodigal son. You're quite a prize!
    Mike: I've done questionable things.
Joe: Also extraordinary things. Revel in your time.

Sacrilege! How dare you parody one of the best films ever made by inserting Reid in the place of Roy Batty.

I am sure that once BMW is back from Dick Towle's office he will be able to comment.
  • has anyone heard the rumor that a prominent SGC dealer got into a spat with the SGC graders and now is refusing to sell SGC cards and switched back to PSA? Juicy rumors..........

Hey Glengaryglenn.. what exactly is that report you have in your signature line?
  • the infamous police report, which violates CU's sig line size by a country mile
  • if it is true i am sure psa is going to look more closely at his submissions knowing he has admitted to using card restoration services. makes you wonder about his current auctions. did ya see that robinson rookie in the 5?

If that is true, I'll be laughing all the way to Cleveland. After all of the nasty things he has said about PSA on both the SGC and the Yahoo CLCT stock messageboards, I don't know why they'd allow him to submit to PSA again.

I agree that it should not be posted. Several people are making money off this on eBay and elsewhere, and posting this for everyone to see is clearly cutting into their livelyhood.

It must be a fictional report since the "offender" has said that it did not exist and we all know he is the self-proclaimed "Babe Ruth of Baseball Cards Dealers".

    Greg,

I freely admit that I have purchased cards from Dick Towle ("Gone with the Stain") and sent cards to him for restoration.

Is it a good idea for PSA to be affiliated with this guy????
