GAI 10

I'm not a big modern card collector, but I have ran across this grade when searching on eBay. Is a GAI 10 on par with a PSA 10 or BGS 9.5? Or is it more valuable since it is "perfect"? Here's the card I was looking at I am a little weary since there's no scan, but a 10 should be perfect right?

That's what it means, but I'm not sure grading matters much (in terms of re-sale value) for gu cards, which might explain why no one has met his asking price.

    Brian,
One thing to make sure without a scan if they indeed say GAI 10 Perfect or Gem Mint. When GAI first started out, they did not have the 10 Perfect grade. It was a 10 Gem Mint grade because they weren't sure if they were going to be using the half grades. All the 10 Gem Mint can be resubmitted for proper designation per Steve Rocchi....whether it now makes it to a 9.5 or possibly 10 perfect.
The baseball beckett now list GAI as the top 4 and stated the equilvalent of and explaing the GAI 10 perfect with an asterisk. The asterisk was used because GAI did not use the term Pristine, but Beckett said that Perfect was the same as Pristine hence the asterisk.......

    SGC BGS PSA GAI
    100 10 N/A 10
    98 9.5 10 9.5
    96 9 9 9
    88 8.5 N/A 8.5
  • Thanks for the input. I did buy it and took a chance without the scan. I think the price was pretty good. EagleEyeKid, I didn't know that. If it is only a gem-mint 10, I'll demand my money back as he labeled it a "perfect" 10.

    Thanks,
    Brian
