Lothar, you probably already know this, but in case you didn't know or didn't remember, the Jorge Bell card was considered the only other legitimate rookie card in the set, back in the day - I'm guessing he's a common now, but a lot of Bell cards were pulled from '82 sets in the 80's along with the Ripken.

As far as your request, I think I have one somewhere, but I wouldn't lay odds on my being able to find it. I'm sure you can get one pretty easily though.

    <<juan samuel...good guy>>

Wasn't Juan Samuel the guy that threw a bunch of lit firecrackers at some kids asking for his autograph in the Dodger Stadium parking lot?

I will check to see if I have one for you.

I remember setting up at a card show once and trading with another dealer about 5 Bell's and 3 Barfield's from the 1982 Topps set for about 30 1950 Callahan's including Ruth, DiMaggio, Cobb, Gehrig and Cochran (name incorrect).

One of the better trades I ever made.

I will check for you though.

The firecracker incident was courtesy of Vince Coleman. I think he was with the Cardinals or Mets at the time.

  • It's not perfect but it's the best dupe I have. Let me know if it's good enough for you.

  • And of course it was George (he signed it with a G) Bell who the Cubs traded for Sammy Sosa.

    Thank you White Sox.

    Futureman-
You're right. I knew it was one of the basestealing phenoms who fizzled quickly. Thanks for correcting me.

I remember the days going to watch the Jays and people would bring out the Bell's when this guy would bat. At one time this guy was one of the better ball players. I heard he was alittle bit of a nut job though. Those ugly uniforms bring back memories.....
