Did you see that PCGS weighted the grand-daddy set?

New Set Composite Online!
Complete U.S. Coin Design Set (1792-present)

The following sets have been weighted:
Complete U.S. Type Coin Set (1792-1964)
Copper, Nickel, and Silver Type Coin Set (1792-1964)

And the number one and number two get swapped.

  • Yes, I saw that. For a while the set had an "upgrade in process" added to the title and I was thinking I was in the middle of an upgrade. Anyway a few coins have been "lost" from the sets. Both High Desert and Swan used to have %100 complete sets. Now they don't. I expect High Desert to regain first place once he re-enters the coins dropped.

Since Swan has deleted his set he is screwed. He can't update an all time set without deleting the set and re-entering all the coins. As he sold some of his coins he can't do that. I recently learned about this issue because it happened to me.

My set is still active and at least one coin was dropped. I added it back but now have to double check to make sure they are all there.
  • The $4 Stellas are required now. This is probably the reason High Desert is no longer 100%.

So are the two different Gobrecht varieties [stars rev, none obverse vs stars obverse, none reverse]

I knew the stellas (I think they announced this a few months ago)were being added but the Gobrecht variety was a new one. Anyone see any other coins which are missing from the list that should be in there or removed? What is the overall opinion of the weights?

Should the half disme be removed? Is it a pattern? I've seen numerous comments from "It's a pattern" to "It's a business strike".

(Regardless of the controversy a great historical coin)

As a participant, I LOVE the new weighting as my average grade dropped from 2.66 to 1.76 in the Gold/Silver set....all the deductions kicked in and helped me head for a target 1.00 GPA <grin>. In the Copper/silver set, I dropped to a 1.31 GPA (yee-haw)....just have to keep making/buying highly weighted coins in PO01! image
