Cumulative GPA of your collection

i'm bored waiting for the hockey game to start so i decided to do something fun. i took out my collection and calculated the total Grade Point average for my collection. i didn't weight it, so each card counts as one. my cumulative GPA for my collection is 8.79 (210 cards times 10 equals 2100. my total grade points are 1845. 1845/2100 = 8.79)

the breakdown-
PSA 4- 1
PSA 5- 2
PSA 6- 2
PSA 7- 5 (includes one PSA 9 PD)
PSA 8- 36
PSA 9- 144
PSA 10- 20

anyone have a GPA higher than that?

  • That's a kinda weird experiment Will. You really must be bored indeed.

I have no idea what my stats would be but I have way too many cards that have no 8's, 9's or 10's in existence so I'm out of this race.

Will...I am a low-to-mid grade vintage collector, I'll bet my 1950s and prior cards average around 4.0. My 1970s cards average GPA would be about 7.50 or so without doing the math.

Please be kind to me. Even though I'm now a former postal employee, I'm still capable of snapping at any time.
  • Ok I was bored to and I had them all out anyways, so not counting the ones currently on auction, here are the totals:

    PSA 10 - 142
    PSA 9 - 322
    PSA 8 - 122
    PSA 7 - 46
    PSA 6 - 24
    PSA 5 - 3

    I got close, mine came out to GPA 8.76 (659 cards times 10 equals 6590. My total grade points are 5775. 5775/6590 * 10 = 8.76)

Damn, I'm going to have to sell the crappy ones and buy more PSA 10's. image

  • I went from 1000 cards to 13 cards. After plugging all of the numbers in my computer (13 x 8 / 8 ) I came up with 8.0

I'd have a great GPA of 9+ if it weren't for all those damn 7's and 8's from the Forties and Fifties.
  • Mine was 3.81 after four years and a total of 191 semester hours. Range from a crappy 3.68 to a perfect 4.0. Dean's list all eight semesters, commandant's and superintendent's lists for four. Finished #32 out of 841 graduates. Got my diploma from George Bush the senior, back in Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Two.

(That's the GPA you should be working on Will!!)

As for the cards, I have too many from 1910 and 1911 that are 5's and 6's. They are all rookie cards though! A PSA 6 Vezina rookie is certainly better than a modern PSA 10 that has hundreds graded!!

Mines too low to even contemplate. Probably around 4 with all the vintage stuff.
At least when my school GPA was low it was due productive stuff, like ditching school to surf or spend time in the darkroom.
