Take a look at the coin pictured below and compare it to the auction. The photo below is an MS66 I purchased from Fairlaneman.

Only $103,250 cheaper than the coin at Heritage. Personally I think you made one hell of a buy and I was as dump as a pitching wedge for selling it that cheap.

    Folks....Tony's 19S is a very nice coin.

    Thanks Ken!

The coin you sold me look like about 99% bands. The coin at Heritage looks about the same by the photos.

That's a lot of money for 1% more bands!

    Tony,

Looks like you did quite well regardless - the Heritage scans show a pretty dime indeed - I know it was and is a super dime. The bands are fully split btw - just the price is quite steep I guess no one wanted to splurge 100K+ to own one - especially you as you have one with pretty decent bands in fact I have 2-3 dimes in my set that are similar and are not graded "FB" yet I hesitate to upgrade as they are FB on a "quiet" day image . The 19-S's are truly tough to come by in TRUE 64FB and higher. The one that did NOT sell is similar to the one I have and am looking to upgrade. Bottom line the 19-S is indeed quite rare in these grades.

I was surprised to see a few dimes still for sale - buy it now - although I believe most were not super examples to begin with.

The dime Fairlaneman sold you looks every bit as nice as that dime on Heritage's sale. There is a touch of weakness on the central bands on both coins, even though one's graded FB.

Great coin!! Ken has the eye for Merc's. I have been VERY satisfied with all of the coins I have purchased from him.

IMHO, The Heritage Merc does not look as good as your dime, but yours seems to have the tiniest more area of a flat spot on those middle bands.

    Both great looking dimes!

I would hope for $103,250 more the coin at Heritage would be better... One hundred grand better!

The Heritage 1919(s) Merc is not only ALL THERE FULL BANDS, but, very high end for the grade. The coin was formerly the pop 1 for both services NGC-MS67FB.

But, of course, the dime is not for everyone. I also understand the concept of collecting nearly FB coins for a tiny, tiny fraction of the price. Same idea when it comes to FS nickels, FBL Franklins, FH SLQ's, etc. I also love to buy "just miss designation" coins - you basically get to buy some many more coins for your "collecting dollars".
