Large Submission and a question. Big file....

Well it will be for me at least. About $300 on their 10 day 10$ turn around. Im being very "picky" this time. Instead of using a loupe (sp) or even a magnafying glass I am using tea leaves... OK maybe not but I am using my scanner and jacking the cards up to 400%. I have found a lot doing this, you CAN see corner wear and every little blemish. Now for my question. The corners and EVERYTHING else looks good and you can (barely need to "look for it) see this flaking with the naked eye. Does it make it a 9 instead of a 10.

I would definately say yes on the "9".

Please be kind to me. Even though I'm now a former postal employee, I'm still capable of snapping at any time.

Come on now, if a big submitter like DSL or Tuttle got a "9" w/ that chipping, there would be a post stating that they get all the breaks. So if you don't get the 9 on this card, don't think they are tougher on the little guys, they are just giving you the grade it deserves, I say that chipping knocks it down to an 8. And this is of course not seeing the other part of the card...jay

I don't see chipping as "only one of the following minor flaws" listed for a card to be a 9.

Agree with the 8. I don't claim to be an expert, just pick a close number and subtract 1.

That's why I don't use BGS - I have trouble subtracting fractions in my head.

Although if this is the only flaw after getting it back I would go outside, face west and yell.

Makes you feel a little better at least, and helps to annoy the nosey neighbors.

for those that want to see the whole card. It is a VERY large file (has 2 other cards) I decided to pulll it from the submission. I will replace it with something else. Thanks guys.

  • Aknot- I submitted lots of this material a few years back (most went to SGC). I would not submit the cards in your scans. Those would garner 8's. My basic rule of thumb with most modern cards is that it should look like a 10. If lit ooks like a border line 9, it probably is, and you will get an 8 on it. Submit only PSA 10 quality on modern. If it comes back a 9 you'll be happy, and if it gets the 10 you'll be ecstatic. 8's will kill you and waste your money.
