Leland's Customer Service Really Sux!!!

Called a few days ago requesting a list with the detailed content of one of the lots I had bid on. The baseball card guru (Leland?) calls me back and tells me I'll receive it first thing Friday when he gets back in town. Friday evening comes, I get home and no email. I call again and they tell me the baseball card guru is tied up on another line and will call me back. An hour goes by and no call. I call back and they tell me I'm high bidder on the lot. I tell them that's not the lot I'm inquiring about. They then pass me over to the baseball card guru who immediately asks if I can hold. I make the mistake of saying "ok'. Ten minutes goes by and the customer service rep picks up and tells me I'm high bidder on the lot. I again tell them that's not the lot I'm calling about and again ask to speak to the card guru. She puts me on hold and I get cutoff. Thirty minutes have gone by and all I get is a busy signal. Maybe they shut off the phones?????

How can a company like this stay in business? Remember that next time you consider consigning to them. Thanks to their "stellar" customer service, I have decided not to bid again on that lot. Their out at least $180 (maybe more depending on what the unknown remaining cards in the lot were). Worse yet, the consignor is out even more.

Sorry to rant but I like to let people know when a major auction house gives crummy service.

I had a problem with them too, and probably won't bid in their auctions again. There have been more than a few threads on this on the Net 54 and Full Count boards- it would seem that their card guru doesn't really know his stuff.
You might be better off in the long run.

After buying a vending box from them, I'm sticking to the graded stuff if I do bid with them.

I had a problem with them, too. I tried to register for the auction the day beforehand, and just ran into a lot of red tape and ultimately could not place any bids. I found this to be very unprofessional, and I'm sure their consignors would be interested to know that several thousand dollars in bids were not placed as a result.

I stopped bidding with them a couple years ago when I was sent an invoice for some items I won, but shockingly, also some items I never even bid on. I called them and they told me to "just pay for the items I actually won." So, how did this happen on my "bidder account"? No explanation to that.

To make it even better, I paid for my items and then when my package came, the highest priced item wasn't included. I called and they weren't sure what happened, but "would look into it." Finally a couple weeks and phone calls later I got the last item, and bid for the last time.

Well I ended up winning two lots. The one lot was the one they failed to provide a list of cards for. I had placed a lowball bid assuming there were no low pop 8's and ended up winning the lot. I ended up getting a pretty good deal.

    John-
Declare it a good deal when you have the cards in hand. Last auction I won 2 uncut sets of '70 Supers. They turned out to be '71's (you know, its a big hassle to look at the back of the sheet to figure out the year when writing up the catalog). I"m still waiting for a call back from them on it.

You're kidding?! image They ought to hire my mom to handle their sportscard auctions. She would at least get the year right. Since my lots are all professionally graded, I know the year is right and likely the grades are right. But I'll still be nervous until I have the items in my hands. Even though I got a good deal, I'm still dropping a lot of coin.

Good luck getting it straightened out.
