    Pick6 -

The early results of the 81 Topps cello bust -

Best - Rose, Bench All Star, Murray, Baines

Less, a little OC - O. Smith (2), Raines RC (2), Dodgers Future Stars w/ Scioscia and Valenzuela (2)

Pretty far OC - Ryan (ouch), Schmidt All Star, Brett All Star.

All in all it was worth it for me.

The Rose is the best, with great centering and only a slight print smudge. The Murray and Bench are close behind.

Won't guess at grades. Will just send the best and see.

Thanks again. Maybe I can get more from you soon.

  • spent 8500.00 on a raw collection already got my money back and this was some of the gravy. I didn;t know gravy had scissors.

How do you guys tell if someone alters a card. I have always had great luck and had one come back trimmed(they said acutally company cut it short and set me a free grade). Then I send these in and get three

The musial was a PSA 8 I thought and now is trimmed. It is going to be a long weekend

I hold up every single one of my cards against one that I know is standard size prior to purchasing them, and then again prior to sending them for grading. Usually, I'll catch 99% of the trim jobs before I buy, but on rare occasion, I've missed them because I didn't have the card out of lucite holder when I bought it, only to remove it and hold it up and see it's a touch short after. Doing this at the card shows right in front of the dealer also gives me a read on the dealer and whether he's a regular trimmer. If they get antsy or say something that tips it off, I won't buy anything from them. Sometimes a dealer has trimmed cards and they don't even know it until I point it out to them. What upsets me about this is after I show them it's trimmed, they just leave it in the case and will eventually sell it to someone who didn't take the time to check. It is sick how many trimmed cards there are... just go on PSA and pick cert numbers at random, it won't take much more than 10 cert checks before you find an "evidence of trimming"

And it's usually with a look like "that's just one a**hole's opinion..."

BTW - pick6: I won that partial box of (11) 1981 cellos earlier this week - looking forward to ripping into them! That's gonna be a cheap night of fun!!image
