OT-Go Smarty Jones!!!!

I'll be at the Belmont Stakes Saturday. For souveiniers, if anyone wants a Program (I think they're $3.50) and a $2 win ticket on Smarty, let me know. I'd appreciate if you could paypal me like $12 (2-3 day $3.85 Prioroty flat rate envelope shipping included and I'll throw the program in a plastic sleeve and the ticket in a card saver I), that will help me out as I pay $15 in tolls from New Jersey and let's all not talk about Gas prices these days, parking, admission, paypal fees, losing bets lol. I'd need you to paypal me no later than 7am est saturday.

If interested, let me know at cdowning23@comcast.net or simply paypal to that same email or my id of spigrimace

Could be worth a lot more when he wins. And I just cannot see him losing.

If I get drunk enough and he wins, I'll try to run onto the track and get us some Smarty Jones hoofprint dirt by the finish line!

    Smarty Jones hoofprint dirt !!!

That would sell for a fortune! Heck, if Luis Gonzalez gum can sell for 2 grand, think of what some Smarty Jones dirt would go for. Maybe you could get some half chewed hay or something, now that would be a big ticket item!

Seriously though, thanks for the offer, it's really nice of you to offer to do that.
I will be down at the local track laying a few bets down on Smarty. You should have a blast there, I bet the place will be crazy!

have fun and let us know how it was.

What does a $2 bet pay for win? His odds are something like 2:5, so does that mean you win like 40 cents?

I hope he does win. As a former 3-year-old from Philadelphia myself, he could be the only sports franchise from there to win anything this year.
    WANTED:
2005 Origins Old Judge Brown #/20 and Black 1/1s, 2000 Ultimate Victory Gold #/25
2004 UD Legends Bake McBride autos & parallels, and 1974 Topps #601 PSA 9
Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs

    Nothing on ebay
  • won't pay much but no matter as it would be a souveiner and wouldn't be cashed. If you want to try and make $, try to hit a good longshot under for the exacta.
  • Get Smart do not bet on Smarty, All his times KY Derby and Preakness were slower than all the recent triple crown winners. Secretariat. Seattle Slew, and Affirmed. To much Speed in this race that will soften him up on the front end, Also added distance will not suite him and Jockey who will panic when pressured on front end so pick another Horse. Lots of fresh horses in this race. Also lots of wasted tickets in Belmont parking lot after race, Fool and his money will soon be departed at 2 to 5.
  • You are correct on times but remember: 1) Churchill strip was Pea soup and 2) Preakness going was unusually deep and speed folded all day that Friday & Saturday.

Where are you getting your assumption that he won't like the longer going??? Not his breeding. What didn't he handle at 1 1/4 or 1 3/16?? I saw a horse pulling (more like exploding) away. he may win by 20 today with the extra 1/4 mile. Also, he showed us he can rate. Elliot needs to make a decision going into the first turn to gun it or sit back.

You saw the proof of how great Smarty is (like we needed mopre proof) when undefeated Purge got smoked twice in a row by Smarty, then ducked Smarty to win the Peter Pan. Today Purge has to face the music that he's back up against a better horse.

I agree too that this is not a bettors race. So I'll simply enjoy it for sport & history. However, you could single him in a rolling Pick 3 or keyed on top in exactas with 2 or 3 Longshots under.
  • On the longer track, Smarty wins by twenty one lengths. He could win by more, but respects what Secretariat did in 1973.

  • $3.30 to place! thats a great price, I guess everyone played him to win. I thought he would pay $2.10.
  • Got some serious egg on my face. Really thought Smarty would pull away in the stretch.
A 36 to 1 winning the Belmont. Someone made some serious bucks there.
