I would say yours is nicer.

Not complaining. I only had to pay for a "GOOD." I think I did very well, and mine is about the best G6 I have seen.

By the way, on the ebay one, look at the hairlines reverse obv field? Is that just marks, die polish, cleaning?
<< <i>Let me get this straight? The one on ebay is a F-12 and the one pictured is a G-6? And pcgs is respectable, how?

look at the hairlines all over that thing. The image certainly makes it appear blatantly overgraded. Yours is MUCH nicer regardless of what the plastic says.

No way this is an F12.
The coin you show should probably be a PCGS VG. The only PCGS graded Mercs I've seen in quantity are the '16-D and the '42/'41 overdates, but it seems that they are very generous when grading those dates. They're frequently given as much as a full grade higher than what I would rate them. I learned to grade using the old Brown & Dunn book, and later the ANA guide and Photograde. I don't have them with me at the moment, but if I remember correctly, a Good had to have full rims, a VG had to show half of the vertical lines in the fasces, and a Fine had to show ALL of the vertical lines, although they'd be weak. Am I alone in believing these to be the proper standards?

What a load some of this TPG grading is at times.

Based on the 1921 F12, 1921-D VG10, 1925-D VG10, that I have had, my coin fit right in with the VG coins from that group. I had assumed they were tougher on the 1916-D becuase of rarity, or that maybe they were loose on the less rare coins. I don't why the coin on ebay is graded too high, but it makes me wonder if it depends on who sends the coin in. With the lack of sticks on the ebay coin, I would think that coin should not have graded so high, but then again my coin is probably undergraded, so it may skew the opinions here even more. In any case, the coin on ebay will get "F" money, and if I listed mine, it would only get "G" money. Some people buy the coin others buy the plastic.
I would much rather pay for an under graded coin than an over graded one!
(Hey, Ken, we took the Chevelle out for a ride tonight!)
