    He's not really gone ...

He'll be all around in the dark.
He'll be ever'-where - wherever you can look.
Wherever there's a fight so card doctors can be exposed, he'll be there.
Wherever there's a card dealer beatin' up a guy, he'll be there.
He'll be in the way buyers yell when they're mad -
he'll be in the way collectors laugh when they''re hungry an' they know there's an In-N-Out nearby.
An' when the people are registerin' the cards they submit, and receivin' certificates - he'll be there, too.

That's unfortunate. He really knew what he was talking about when it came to cards and the card industry.

You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension - a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into the Twilight Zone.

theBobs - my previous post is actually an excerpt from a book I'm collaborating on,
with a group of other submitters whose cards didn't come back graded as high as they had predicted they would.

The working title is "Sour Grapes of Wrath"

Apparently there is some discussion of this topic on the SGC boards.

I will not comment on the "comments", but if they are to be believed, he should be gone.

  • I just read sgc's thread and can't hep but make a couple of comments.

First, John Basilone didn't do anything to slander Chris Renaud. That is just ridiculous.

Second, Why is it that nearly every poster over here is Dan Markel? Now they say Koby is Dan Markel. Give me a break.

I can't understand the need to trash John and Dan.

I guess discussing religion or sexual orientation is a no no.

Thanks for the link Goodriddance. It's my first time to the SGC boards in quite some time. The funniest thing about that SGC thread is the fact that Davalillo is in total denial. <<Now if they could get rid of Acowa and his reported attack aliases and Kobe I might return.>>

Jim, I don't know if you've been keeping up with current events...but you got BOOTED!! Now you're making it sound like you left the board? Which in fact you did...TWICE!!! You couldn't stay away unless you got thumped off the boards. (which you did!) You need THIS board to feed that mammoth ego of yours. Honestly, I haven't seen that much revisionist history since reading 1984.

I reccommend that you call Joe Orlando and give him an ultimatum with a comprehensive list of who needs to stay and go for you to return. As I remember it, you guys are pretty tight. Based on the revisionist history you've reported on the board, I can now see where Joe was coming from when he tried to explain why PSA couldn't coddle to your every whim. Based on what I know, you could have just as easily made up the stuff about him like you have about me.

BTW - I really miss all of your rumor of the week crapola. You are in the perfect place to spread gossip and lies about PSA. I hope that you're having fun watching all of the paint dry and grass grow over on the SGC board.

    Regards,

    Alan
  • I can verify that Basilone did not write anything at all mean or derogatory about me and he just asked me about technical diving / scuba diving and asked pretty good questions

Collector of baseball PSA sets from the 1970's & hockey rookie cards; big New York Rangers fan (particularly now that they are sleeping with the enemy with Holik and Kaspiritus). Also starting to collect 53 Bowman Color as I think they are the most beautiful cards I have seen.

I haven't ventured over to the SGC boards in a long while, either. Seems pretty lonely over there, what with all of those tumbleweeds blowing through.

There are threads on page 1 from April 14th still! image

Golly, who could that be over there posting on the SGC Board as "toothpick2"? Gosh, his syntax seems soooo familiar. Hmmm....

Anyway, while I'm here, I have a big run of auctions closing tomorrow including a '57 Topps Ted Williams PSA 8, a '66 Topps Jim Palmer PSA 8 rookie and four PSA 9 1971 Topps cards plus many other PSA graded cards too.

Win any of my auctions and mention this ad and receive a free copy of the Rosemont Police Department report #2002 08 0525. That's a $5 value for absolutely free for winning one or more auctions! But wait! That's not all! Win three or more auctions or spend over $100 and get a free CD-ROM of some classic message board threads no longer available including "WTF happened to Mike at the National". A $10 value, absolutely free by winning three or more auctions or spending over $100! Auctions end June 3rd. Bid early and often.

    Thanks for looking.

I don't understand your question. Perhaps you can try to rephrase it in a way that makes sense?

Yikes - Wolfbear, are you taking liberty with Jethro Tull? I still have an 8 track.
Proud of my 16x20 autographed and framed collection - all signed in person. Not big on modern - I'm stuck in the past!

    DH,

I read Wolfbear's post as "taking liberty" with The Beatles. Maybe I'm wrong. Funny nonetheless. image

Now that I thought about this again, I think I am entirely wrong. Oh well, it was the 70's and my mind is somewhat mush about a few things from then.

  • Dirtyharry,

At the risk of further elevating the good taste and decorum of this thread, the line in Aqualung that was perhaps occupying a recess of the hazy past was "snot is running down his nose, greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes"....

    Wayne,

Thanks! And it even gets better!

Here's a message sent by one of the winners of one of those PSA cards who just paid me by Paypal:

    "Dan,

Please send me a copy of the police report mentioned on the PSA message boards. I don't collect baseball cards but bought this only for the copy of the report.

    Thanks,"

Am I a marketing genius or what? imageimage

But it looks like someone else is trying to muscle in on my marketing gimmick.

Just one of many auctions by some eBay seller that seems vaguely familiar to me, but for some reason I can't seem to place him...image

  • Oh NO. I have been outted.
I just checked my wallet and found an ID that my name is "Dan Markel".
I hadn't realized that until now.
