Who was the best athlete of All-Time? Not who you might think.

In the spirit of JEBs T218 post I wanted to show my favorite card from the set. This particular card is not the most beautiful card. It's not a snap-shot of anyone most folks would recognize.

In fact, I would bet nobody ever heard of this athletic stud unless they collect this set like some of us somewhat strange forum trolls. But this rock of a man just might be the greatest athlete of all-time. Read the back of Edward Payson Weston's card and judge for yourself.

Do you think such an athlete would look like this!!!!

I know what your thinking. He was too poor to own a horse so what choice did he have back then? I say image You're just jealous. Ruth could never perform these feats!!!

MF - nice card - the 2 1/2 minute mile....today's athlete can almost run it that fast (give or take a minute).

MM - I know I would topple over several times if I had to drive that contraption, and thats w/o doing serious drinking image ...jay

Jay - I hear you - how do you even get up on one of those things? And check the drive; it has the old direct drive pedal at the hub of the wheel, as opposed to the belt driven speedsters we have now. I had a trike with that direct drive configuration and it was the embodiment of getting nowhere fast. You could barely outpedal your own sweat.

I remember reading about a guy who walked around the earth a few times...backwards. I'm actually not joking for once. He had special glasses with mirror and lived sometime in the early 20th Century. He was listed in Guinness or Ripley's. I don't recall why he decided to go backwards, but apparently he was greeted like a hero in whatever country he entered.

Another great athlete was Lepotomaine (sp?). He was the Kobe Bryant of faarting. He gave shows in France during the early 20th Century. Tickets were sold out and the dress was black tie. The French loved him. He could play songs with his anus. This isn't a joke either. He was very celebrated.

These two have my vote for top athlete ever.

Does he have a card? Maybe a scratch and sniff card would be appropriate?
