1838 half dime,can anyone tell the differance between large&small stars?

I'm bewildered by the small star variety on the 1838 half dimes.I don't have any referance books that show the differance between the small and large stars.One 1838 half dime I own has been shown to 2 dealers and they disagreed on whether the stars were large or small.I would really apperciate if somone could tell me how to indentify the small stars,even more if somone could send me pictures.

Pay attention to star 8, the star between Liberty's head and her cap on the pole. See the difference?
