    The attraction is that you get the entire set all at once. Mostly NM or NM-MT though.
  • Yeh, probably 5 digits cheap...

    Amazing that this is considered (according to Leland's) to be "one of the most difficult post-war sets"... that's ridiculous!
  • I would consider the 339 card 1998 Leaf Rookie and Stars Longevity set to be tougher than the 93 Finest Refractor set, as there are only 49 of each card with the 1st card of each player being a hologram card.

    The 1993 Finest Refractor set is probably the most expensive modern set out there.

    I would gladly pay someone $2500 for a 1993 Finest Nolan Ryan Refractor PSA 9 image

    Scott;

    You helped me make my point exactly. At about 250 each, the 93 Refractor set is not nearly as tough as other parallel inserts that number anywhere from 50 each all the way down to 1 each. If you take all those types of modern sets into consideration, the 93 set is very plentiful!

    the title should have read "the most difficult post-war set that people actually give a crap about"

    Got any Candy Lids to grade? Maybe a 74 Deckle? There's an old saying about Ryan collectors: "If you grade it, they will come. Ooooooh, they will most definitely come."

    BTW... are you the same Tom Papa that has a sitcom airing this fall on one of the networks? I think the name of the show is "Papa Don't Preach", or "Papa di Bona" or something like that. I saw the commercial and thought of you.

    The break-up value of that set is pretty good, especially if they are all really 8-9 worthy (especially the Ryan and Piazza). What can I say though, I'm a refractor freak... image
