I Want To Start Collecting Gold: Need Advice:

Should I invest in gold coins or gold bullions? What about platinum? And where should I buy from? Is ebay safe? I know America has all the gold, so which company in the states produces best bullions? How about London, England? I need all the advice I can get. Thanks a bunch.

  • 1st: Start off with a LOT of money.

    2nd: Throw it away

If you are comfortable with that, then go ahead and invest in bullion.
(Heck, go for gold stocks and REALLY have fun)

HOWEVER, if you want to invest in rare gold coins, that is a different
    matter. image

Go for PCGS/NGC graded key and semi-key gold coins in higher grades.
Shouldn't have much downside risk and has good upside potential. If
you really want to enter a specialty area, go for Dahlonega and Charlotte
    mint gold coins.

If you want to collect, don't think of investing. Collect what you like. IMO, investing in bullion is definitely not collecting.

I assume you want to invest in metals and not collect coins.
