Is it bad to want EVERYTHING???

There are so many wonderful world coins that it makes my head spin. Lately I've wanted everything I seeimage I went through this in my earlier days of collecting which became a problem. I was not set on one series, group or interest. I was skipping around buying up coins with no thought or pattern and ended up with odds, ends, bits and pieces. But I can't help it!! I CAN'T....I want everything....it all looks so goodimage

Because of this "illness", which I have many, I started my own group called CA (Coins Anonymous) for the numismatistic challenged. It will be located in the same building as my new grading service BSCG (Big Shenanigans Coin Grading)image

But on a serious note does this ever happen to anyone else? Do you just want it all sometimes???

But to be able to build the kind of collection I want, I have limited myself to a George III type set for the time being.

Collect a little of everything until you find something you really enjoy, then focus on it like a laser beam!

  • I used to be all over the board also. Then I started my Eddie VII collection. This is the first time that I have ever been focused. Although I love Eddie, I must admitt that I do miss buying a coin just because I really like it, even though it would not fit in a particular collection. However, as soon as Eddie is finished, I will be back on my all time favorite collection, Odds and Endsimage

  • Okay, metaphorically, I went to Myrtle Beach (SC) when I was young and all those pretty U.S. gals were there in their '60s bathing suits but most were outta my league and they all started to look alike. When I got older I heard about San Tropee' (?), the beaches of the Riviera, Acupulco, etc so I started toward the nearest non U.S. beach. Canada was cold, Mexico warmer, until now I'm routinely backstroking around the world, even across to landlocked countries to observe all the sights of the numismatic world and bring back affordable trophies.
In other words, I collect all affordable world coins, generally from 1800 to present. After 35 years I have nearly 15,000 and see no end in sight. Ain't it great?! imageimage
