Is this for real?

This coin is extremely rare in any condition, even if it's not nearly an MS63 as PCI says because there's obvious wear. But what bothers me more is the possibility PCI slabbed a fake -- it may be the image, but the coin just doesn't look right. Link

This coin lists for 100.00 in XF and 325.00 in Unc., so the bid price would be about right for an AU58, which is how I would grade it. I also want to say I have no problems with the seller and have been satisfied in past transactions with her. I'm just wondering whether it's okay to trust PCI on this one. image

If I knew anything about them, I wouldn't have made the posting I did a few days ago.image

It's a tough coin to get to know. image I don't pretend to be an expert -- I've just handled a lot of them, including many obvious fakes, so I'm very cautious when I buy one.

I don't know about these, and I'm only seeing red x (once again, the work computers are inhiting my ability to surf ebay--the nerve!!). But here is another auction, slabbed by PCGS instead (if that helps image)

Yes, Cathy, I saw that. (drool) The one in the Goldberg sale is a proof, and extremely rare. I only wish I could afford it, because I don't know if I'll ever see one that nice again. It's already bid up over the Krause price and likely to go much higher. imageimage

For the most part, I would trust PCI to spot a fake... United States coin (for purposes of authenticity, anyway, if not grade).

Not so sure what I'd expect with a world coin.
