I cannot believe there is a reserve on this coin! Why on earth would anyone slab this coin?

I think the point is that there was a rumor at one time that this was going to be a rare coin. People removed a great number of them
from circulation very quickly. This being a circulation find makes it more rare than the zillions of uncirculated ones that were hoarded.
In other words the seller may be implying it's a "condition rarity".

Maybe someone knows the whole story behind the 1950-D Jefferson rumor?
