Heart attack!!!!!

It speaks for itself..... tears came to my eyes as such beauty was brought up on my screen. We poor people can only dream of such things........

    Think thats been dipped?

I don't know if it's been dipped, but it's got a better strike on it than any of my mercs.

    WOW O WOW
  • Lets be honest..... who cares if it has been dipped when it is a 1916-D and PCGS graded that high? It just sort of makes my heart flutter.

Braddick found the one in my price range! Now if I can get a dremel tool and some dental attachments, I could buff that copy right off the reverse!

That lighting on that picture is awfully harsh. It could certainly have been dipped, but it's hard to tell that shape of the surfaces there. The strike detail is glorious, though!
  • You can just LOOK at that pic in that other link and tell it is cheap metal. That insane thing up there scares me.....

But you are right..... it is too good to be true. Somehow I have this feeling of dread all over me about that thing and I dare not pick up or go look in my pop report.

I am not sure if it was the same coin, but at the Baltimore convention earlier this year there was a 67FB 16-d for sale at 117K . It looked similar to this coin and was absolutely breathtaking.

When you stop and think about the reality of it all....that one dime can be worth so much....

a tiny, 88 year old graven image, that survived World Wars, the roaring twenties.,

The Great Depression, the atomic age, and so much more in pristeen condition... thru times

when communication and Numismatic knowledge, including proper storage, was minmal...well-

it's just mind boggling. It's so surreal...a dime worth more than some homes, fine automobiles etc...

Given silver's natural properties and it's present condition-you may believe that it's surfaces have

been altered/enhanced by acceptable means. Some wealthy person who has it all will stop at nothing

to own this piece while people are dying of starvation. Now that I see it, I look at it with mixed

emotions. To think that one thin dime could be worth so much hinges on insanity. JMHO

Frankly, given the location, I would not be surprised to see this coin hit a million dollars.

A DIME WORTH A MILLION DOLLARS...whether this happens today or someday just the fact as in

the cases of the 1913 V-Nickels(which really should be confiscated and destroyed...but that's another

story for another day)just the fact that SOME day it WILL happen just doesn't register.image
  • I don't think it will go that high boom,
it will probable sell for around 95k or so, there are several in 67fb

Who needs it? You'd just have to pry that blue "RARE" disc out of your Whitman folder to tape it in.

I had a nicer one in my hand at the Baltimore show.
    A beautiful toned 16-D MS67 ( VERY nice dime)

The owner was also a very nice person!

As much as I would like to own such a coin (If I ever have that kind of money image) I would not bid on that Merc without seeing it in person, especially with a picture like that....

Actually, I would be much happier for this coin that the HepKitty has on EBay...
