1915 BUFF IN CHANGE FROM WAL-MART.

4 digit date, but very well circulated. I know it's no big deal, but it made my day.

Hey, that's a way cool find! Amazing, when you think about it.

Didja see my latest find on the MD forum? Another example of something that really isn't all that impressive a coin, but it definitely made my day.

  • Finding stuff is always fun. I got a buffalo nickel in change from burger king a week ago. Just a few days ago we pulled a 1984 Proof 50c out of a roll, also some foreign coin, it's all in arabic so hard to find out what it is exactly. Then one of the bank ladies that keeps old paper money for me found an 1867 Rays Shield Nickel ofcourse not for me as she collects the coins, but it was cool to hear about.

  • I actually have my own cool find story for once. My wife's stwep sister's grandmother passed away recently and they went to clean the house to sell it. My sister in law came over friday and left me an envolepe with the word "coins" on it. i just got back today and saw it. When i opened it 5 coins were in it (I did not pour it out) and one plastic holder with 5 1943 steel cents. 3 foreign coins , one 1904 indian head in ag condition, and very cool square 5 cent piece. It is from the Nederlanden and dated 1943. First other than round coin. It is silver and AU if not better. WIll go to the darkside to find out more.

On the Buffalo, it would be my guess some kid broke into daddy's collection and spent the coin. image It used to happen all the time at the Pizza parlor I used to work at. Kids would come in and sell use silver halves or quarters at a premium and they'd spend the money on video games. It wasn't until later I figure where the brats were getting their coins...lol

I see that a lot of our members are finding Kennedy proof half dollars in circulated rolls. I have found a 1970-S, 1971-S, 1974-S, 1976-S, 1977-S, 1979-S, 1987-S, 1997-S, and 1998-S proof halves as well as a 1967 SMS half in circulated rolls. I have found other proof coins in other denomitations as well. Is this a common occurance and if so where are they comming from? I can hardly believe that people would be so stupid to cut them out of mint set and spend them. There must be a better explanation.
  • Speaking of halves I also found a '76S silver clad in a roll, that was pretty cool.

I think alot of what is being found in circulated rolls has alot to do with kids stealing them from there parents or where ever they can and spending them .Most kids wouldn't know the difference if they got hold of a roll of coins .
