Opus 187 REFUSAL OF THE GERMAN PEACE OVERTURES (Friedensangebot der Mittelmächte)., 1917, Cast FE, 58mm, 51.90g

On the occasion of presentation of note by Central Powers to Entente containing peace proposals. Obverse: Armored hands release dove with inscription: “Peace offer of Central Powers, December 12, 1916.” Inscription on the Reverse “The ‘doves’” (in exergue) the Entente powers placing the peace dove back into the cage demonstrating refusal of acceptance.

Scott - Very nice!! I'll bet there is a story behind each character on the reverse - there is even one guy with his hand covering the mouth of another - would sure love to know the ID and significance of each one.
