Another ACG overgrade?

Ebay Link

At the risk of getting added to the list of people ACG is sueing, I would like to bring this auction to your attention and ask if anyone here thinks that this coin is really as good as EF-45. Given the complete lack of detail on the harp I would say VF+ at best.
I emailed the bidder so he could take a look at this.

    How about this "proof"?

    Or an "MS62" with wear?

Is there a significant difference in price for grades of this coin (100's),,,,,, This sounds so LIGHYSIDE. I for one don't collect those, but even if I did, nobody is forcing anubody to bid on it.image

    Can't find your Krause?
Nobody was forcing you to reply to this post but you did anyway.

The coin goes for $130 EF-45 (as it is slabbed) and $20VF, $4 F.

I always graded by the frame of the harp. (Except on threepence, where sometimes the strike can be a bit mushy). That's a VF20 to me.

At the risk of joining the lawsuit also - that's very typical of the ACG grading - grade it 1 above a major price jump - that way they can claim a much higher value for the coins that they have graded.... image

VF20 at best with the wear on both sides of the coin....

I'm with you on that one, Rob. There is some fine detail on the left and top of the soundbox that is critical in grading these coins.
