I love NPNs

I just got a Topps 205 T205 buyback card on a NPN - a Charles (Gabby) Street in a solid VG/EX to VG/EX+ condition. Opening the envelope and finding that surprise was unbelievable.

Side note - I wonder how PSA grades these.

    NICK - thats great!
I've had limited success w/ NPN's - sorta like the good, the bad & the ugly. From commons to a triple jersey card, a T205 would make my day too! ...jay

  • Same here! I got a Topps T205 Joseph Birmingham Buyback with Sovereign back 2 days ago from Topps. I thought they split the replacement cards into 2 mailings. I got it the same time with cards I sent to be replaced.

    WOW! That is sweet!

    I gotta start doing those....

Just a question... How many do you send in at a time. DO you follow the 1/household/day rule? Do you send 1/day for say T05, one for Chrome Series 1, 1 for Chrome series 2, 1 for Heritage....etc? Or do you just do 1 per day/company period?

do all modern issues offer the No Purchase Nessessary cards?

and how do you get the info on where to send in for them?

BKAH ~ just about every pack I've ever opened has the info on the back of the wrapper. I've never sent in though.

Usually it's located underneath the odds listed on the back. You'll see "No Purchase Necessary...to receive cards at the same odds...send a 3x5...."

I was curious how many people send before they get stuff back, how long they wait. How many they send per product per day per company. Do you get 1 card per request or only if you hit the "odds" and would get an insert of some sort?

    BKAH (any anyone else)

Getting original T205 buybacks from an NPN offer is friggin incredible.

    Congrats.

  • envoy98, Yes I just sent 1 (like the rule say 1 per household). Probably about 1-1 1/2 months I guess. Got 2 packs at a card show last march but I didn't send right away. They probably send it after the deadline. I also sent 1 for 2004 Topps series 2.

BKAH, Like what envoy said its on the back of the pack. Check the date before mailing. NPN's have deadlines.

Most Topps product NPNs follow a 1/household rule (although some are 2/household).
All Donruss product NPNs that I have seen follow a 2/household rule.
Upper Deck product NPN are 1/household/day, but I don't even submit to most of theirs, because the odds of success are usually poor (and they ask for more information, so it takes longer to fill out).
Fleer allows unlimited requests on its NPNs.
Press Pass now has a NPN offer - it's 1/household.
Upper Deck availability is while supplies last. Everyone else has expiration dates.
Fleer fills NPNs on a rolling basis, while Topps and Donruss fill them only after the expiration date. Fleer's turnaround has been less than a month lately.
I've never received anything from Upper Deck, so I can't speak to their policy.

There is a long thread on the B/S/T board to which I regularly post my cards, and a few other people also post theirs on that or other threads.

Some products are basically a guaranteed success for a NPN - anything that has a 1:1 or better insert card ratio will almost always be a success.

For all the companies other than Fleer, if you have different addresses you can send in (with different names), you dramatically increase your chances.

I've gotten a few "wow" cards off different sets - the T205, an Anquan Boldin autographed jersey rookie #/700 from Playoff Honors FB, a Eric Moulds/Drew Bledsoe/Travis Henry triple jersey #/100 from Leaf Rookies & Stars FB, a Franco Harris autograph #/25 from Playoff Contenders FB, a 1/1 Press Plate from Topps Pristine BB, a Jim Palmer autographed jersey card from Topps Tribute World Series Edition, an Alonzo Mourning autographed jersey card #/25 from Fleer Authentix BK, a George Brett #/10 parallel from Playoff Prime Cuts BB, and a Tyson Chandler/Steve Francis dual jersey #/375 from Fleer Hot Prospects BK with the Francis jersey swatch being a very attractive 4-color piece.

That doesn't even count all the #ed rookies, #ed parallels, and g-u cards I've gotten.

Today is the last day to send in NPNs for Fleer Genuine Insider BK. This set is very worthwhile, and will probably produce 2 responses for every 5 you send in IIRC. Follow the link Basilone included for a thorough listing.

I've never gotten anything really nice from Topps NPN offers, so I only rarely do it now. I got a Bowman autograph of Morgan Ensberg last year, but it was all dinged up so I should've returned it, but I never got around to doing that. I got a couple Scouting Report jerseys from 2002 Bowman Draft Picks. I think I've gotten one other unmemorable card. But from sets like Bowman Signature, Bowman Chrome, Finest, Heritage, etc., I've gotten nada. It is very possible to get some really nice stuff for free, though. Anecdotes abound.
    WANTED:
2005 Origins Old Judge Brown #/20 and Black 1/1s, 2000 Ultimate Victory Gold #/25
2004 UD Legends Bake McBride autos & parallels, and 1974 Topps #601 PSA 9
Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs

    Nothing on ebay

Ya know... I think I did do this once. I sent in on 2002 Topps Finest football. I got a Jevon Kearse jersey and a Tiki Barber refractor. I think I sent in 8 requests. I think I did 1/day though... I assumed the ones that said 1/household meant 1/household per day... Oops. image

I'll have to head home and send some stuff out tonight.

    Thanks for the info everyone!
