Pence & Pounds & Shillings OH MY!

OK, another world coin newbie question for you guys. I'm trying to sort through all of these & label them accurately but I'm having trouble with something that I'm sure will be painfully simple to you guys. All of these different pence & pound & shilling coins...how do I tell where they're from?
Actually there is only 1 shilling dated 1948. It has a lion wearing a crown on top of a large crown. All of the others are pence & pounds. Any suggestions? I know I need to pick up the Krause book at the library but just haven't had time, right now I'm just trying to identify them all with basic info then I'll dig deeper once I know WHAT they are.
I'm not normally into world coins, these are just some that were given to my 6 year old son that I've put into 2x2 & into a coin wallet for him. This is way out of my limited scope of knowledge. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm not sure if the Brits (who still think the sun never sets on their empire) are so egotistical that they don't find it necessary to put the country name on their coins or postage stamps, or if they are just ashamed to claim them. Either way, the rest of the Empire/Commonwealth put country/colony names on the coins, but all British denomination coins without a country name are UK issues.

Why bother putting a country name on, they can only be spent in Britain, we know what they look like and we know they are British thus why state the obvious?

I label those coins as Great Britain.

Actually, the country name is on there, sort of. "Brit" or "Britt" is short for "Britanniarum," Latin for "The Britains."
