Grading Services

I have a 1952 D Franklin Half MS65 FBL graded by Numistrust Corporation. I have seen them on e-bay graded by PCGS or NTG sold for $250 and up. I have also seen ones like mine graded by Numistrust and they dont sell at all. Is there really that much difference in grading services? Should I send mine to PCGS and have it regraded?

  • As other members have noted in the past, there's a reason the company is called Numistrust.

    Welcome to the boards image.

If you submit it to PCGS you will likely be dissapointed. Numistrust is notorious for overgrading. Best of luck to ya.

The best thing about that holder is that it protects the coin. Beyond that, the market has an extream mistrust for it. If you want strong money for the coin, you either have to:

    a) get a sight seen offer from someone who specializes in that denomination, or
    b) get it certified by a third party grading company that carries a premium

Send it to PCGS! Lets us know what you got for your $$.

Welcome! It is possible that the coin in that NTC holder will not cross to PCGS or NGC at the same grade. And based on my observation of NTC coins, I would say it's likely not to cross. I will say this, there is far more respect for PCGS and NGC (and even ANACS) graded coins than there is for other slab makers.
