Also closing in on 500 HRs. We all though he would reach it about four years ago. I hold my breath every time I watch him run the bases. Hope his ankle and hamstrings hold up.
What a freaking baby! He needs to just give it up and retire. He will never be a great player, instead, he will Always be the player "that was SUPPOSED to be a superstar" or the "imagine if he was not always hurt" player.
(like Thurman Munson, there will be some in years that wonder why he never got to the level he was predicted... and may not even be a HOFer in the end...)

Yes, a player with 7 40 homer seasons, 2 50 homerun seasons and over 500 career homers was never a great player. Never mind the 10 gold gloves either.
That might be the most ridiculous post ever! He is a hall of famer if he never plays again. He has 500 home runs, a ton of gold gloves and was the best player in the game for almost 10 years. I dislike the guy and have never liked his attitude, but to act like he was not great is just idiotic.
Also, I'm not sure that having a torn hamstring is being a "baby." If you don't like him that's fine, but those comments are just absurd.
Collecting anything and everything relating to Roger Staubach
I tend to believe that there is a huge difference between hurt all year and "sucked". He has not been the Reds only hope, they have other good players. And even with Griffey, they haven't ever had enough pitching to win.
When you get a chance can you start threads about the other overrated players like Gale Sayers, Tony Conigliaro and David Thompson. They all "sucked" after getting hurt.
While your at it, Hank Aaron was terrible from 1974-75! Man, that guys overrated, what a has been.

The bottom line with Griff is that he just needs to retire. It is so painfully obvious that he can not play a full season, and he jinxed himself when he signed with the Reds. My advice to Ken is....Buddy just give it up......please.

yeah. I know that. and the point is still true.
we have all these obessessed yankee freaks running around trying all they can to make the case that Munson "would" have been a sure HOFer so we might as well vote him in... but fact is he might have been good, but we never did get to see what he Would have done, did we .
similar to Griffey. He was good before, but since he got to Cinnci, he is really just a wasted pipe dream of Reds fans... like Munson is now to the Yankees fans.
oh yeah, and if I am a "dipsh1t" then you are an Assho1e
I would compare Griffey's career to that of Hall of Famer Mel Ott, who drove in 100 runs for 9 out of 10 seasons and than went his last 8 without driving in more than 90, but I am pretty certain that BKAH has never heard of Mel Ott.
Stating Griffey Jr. is a never was is utter and complete nonsense. Are you kidding me? For over a decade, he was the most dominant player in the game. Let's not forget that he does have 500+ HR's, and everyone else in that club is either actively playing or in the hall of fame. Throw in owning the CF position for a decade, the same number of all star appearances, and you have a dead set HoF'er even if he doesn't play again.
And stating he's a baby? He tore his hamstring, you idiot. You think he doesn't want to play the game? You think he wants to sit on the bench? You think someone who plays full-tilt, every single night wants to be out?
If you honestly think that, then you, sir, have NO idea what Ken Griffey Jr. is about.
<< <i>You think he doesn't want to play the game? You think he wants to sit on the bench? You think someone who plays full-tilt, every single night wants to be out? >>
Yes, Yes I do.
I think he knows that as good as he Might have been in the past, he is too "brittle" to go a whole month without getting hurt (much less a whole season) and Knows it is easier to be "hurt and not contributing" than to be playing and not contributing....
I actually think I have him completely figured out and it is people like you that are fooling yourself.

At least you make good, solid arguments

TRUTH always is the best arguement...
what of this is not true?
every year in cincinatti he has been their ownly hope

he is a hasbeen that may have been good once

and if he is hurt all the time and not producing
then the other part is true too:

highly overrated
overpaid
overhyped
