My San Juan toned Merc Dime -- Grade Revealed!

Surprisingly no one got it right ---- it currently resides in an ANACS MS62 holder. While I didn't pay 62 money, I got it for $39.00, I still think its a great coin. Not sure where I'm sending it to -- PCGS, NGC or ANACS but I am going to crack it out and see what it brings. I'll keep everyone posted.

Any spots/marks are on the holder. By the way it is in a very early ANACS slab. And do you think it will get a FSB designation?

Thanks
Michael

My guess is it's currently in an MS64 holder, but would make 66, shot 67 at PCGS. Hard to tell on the edge of the bands if they're full or not, FB would be a crapshoot.

I bet the holder says 66FB. Send it in to PCGS and you should get a 67FB out of her (I got a 2 point upgrade on a ANACS Merc from PCGS).

I think that it will get FSB. Due to the dings on the back, I'll guess MS66.

I see no evidence of it NOT being FB. Looks great! I say 67FB.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

This looks much better than cat vomit... or even that time your dog threw-up all over your coin box... image Actually, this is much more colorful, and still looks a lot better than that other coin, IMHO... image

Yeah, that's what I'm guessing too. The air is humid and its hot. I can only imagine those are perfect conditions for toning to occur.

I really liked this coin. I think it has outstanding eye appeal and will be part of my collection for a long time -- no matter the grade or designation.

I don't think it really matters what the grade is -- even MS67 FSB aren't worth that much. Add the color and I got a great deal if it does grade to a MS67 FSB. I doubt it'll hit 68 due to the hits on the reverse. But even a 66 would be nice. image

I give it to the end of today and I'll post the ANACS grade.

    Thanks,
    Michael

I'll guess that it's currently in a 65 holder, and think it's a 66 FSB coin and of course the toning is wonderful. image

If it was Baley's thread i would definitely have guessed 62.......

If that means you think I sometimes show you coins that cost 62 money and look like gems, I'll take it as a compliment image

it sure looks like one of your 62's.

Wow... someone must have been smokin somethin over there at ANACS when this coin was graded........ I definately call it a technical 66FB, and actually, I think with PCGS, you'd only get a 6, but with NGC I think an easy 7...

Getting in late on this but the coin looks a tad better than 62. With what appears to be some dings on her lower neck and on the reverse I put it at 64 in your poll. Gut feeling is that it will come back as a 63FB coin though if sent to PCGS.

    Pretty color.
